The Barcelona Affiliate Conference is over, but the London Affiliate Conference is not far away.
I think everybody is in agreement that the Barcelona Affiliate Conference this year was a huge success. As a venue Barcelona is one of the best, evidenced by the fact it was voted for over Budapest and Amsterdam. But now that Barcelona has come to a close we have LAC to look forward to.
Despite the cold I think London is always a conference highlight for many operators and affiliates. For one thing it is always the busiest. Based on their first year estimation of 400 affiliates they were overwhelmed when more that 1500 turned up. But since then the London Affiliate Conference has gone from strength to strength, making every year better than the last.
Things kick off on January 26th and finish on 29th, and as always it is being held at Old Billingsgate Market – giving us a great view of the Thames and central enough that hotels, dinner venues and parties are never a problem.
As always the opening network party is one to watch. Things get going at the Atrium Bar on the Grange St Paul’s Hotel in the evening. The free bar will can be a killer for exhibitors on the first day, because they can’t show the pain and their 9am appointments are always mysteriously moved to the afternoon.
There is a special even on the 28th at Tiger Tiger, a styling club in the heart of London. You can celebrate the continuing success of the London Affiliate Conference in this iGB sponsored event by joining them either in the White Room or the unforgettable Groovy Wonderland! This will be a party everybody will come away from with stories to tell.
Closing night parties are always well-thought-out and tend to last longer, as operators and affiliates tie up their loose ends and make the most of one last free bar (well, until the Sunday session.) This year it is being held at the Amber Bar. This urban bar caters to everyone, boasting four distinctly different bars depending on what mood you’re in. Relax in the Opal Bar with friends and catch up, or head over to the Milk Bar – of Clockwork Orange fame – where you will get the VIP treatment. By the end of the night anyone still standing is bound to be found in the 80s Disco bar – Glitterball – dancing the night away.
And finally, for those hardcore LAC partygoers that can’t tear themselves away, you have the notorious Sunday Session. Things finish close to the start, at the Centre Page Pub, opposite the Grange St Paul’s Hotel. As always be ready for a chilled drink and some poker to while away those hours before flights.
For everyone we met at BAC, it was great as always and we look forward to seeing you at LAC. For those we never got to meet this time we will see you at the London Affiliate Conference 2012. Get your appointments in early with Interpartners, as we are known to be no.1 for lunches and dinner – come and join us there!
